WordPress to Static Questions

Will the site look exactly the same?

Yes. Design, layout, images and text are kept as they are. What changes is underneath: no WordPress, no database, no plugins. If anything looks different on the preview I fix it before launch.

Can you convert a large or complicated WordPress site?

Usually. Sites of 31 to 75 pages are a fixed £349. Above that, and for multilingual sites, multisite networks and big post archives, I quote individually within one working day. The things that rule a site out are shops, logins, bookings and anything visitors submit content to.

What happens to the contact form?

Forms need something to receive the message, so they are a £29 add-on. The form looks the same and delivers to your inbox through a form service with spam filtering. I also check the old form actually worked. One site I converted had bounced 1,926 messages since 2015 without anyone noticing.

Can I still edit the site?

Not through a WordPress dashboard. Hosting + Edits at £19 a month covers 6 small changes a year. If you publish every week, static is the wrong fit and I will say so.

Will my Google rankings change?

URLs, titles, descriptions and content stay the same and anything that moves gets a 301 redirect, so there is nothing for Google to re-learn. Static pages are also quick, which search engines reward.

The site was built by an agency that has gone. Is that a problem?

No. I only need the live site and, ideally, hosting access for the backup and domain switch. Many of the sites I convert have no working admin login at all.

My site has been hacked. Can you still convert it?

Usually. The static copy is built from what the public pages render, injected scripts and spam links are stripped, and the result contains nothing executable for an attacker to return to. If the pages are too damaged to copy cleanly I tell you before you pay and point you to emergency support.

Do I have to move hosting?

No. Rootscope hosting is £9 a month with the first 3 months free, or you take the files and host them anywhere. Static sites run on almost any host.

Do prices include VAT?

Prices are shown excluding VAT. VAT at 20% is added at checkout. Rootscope Limited is VAT registered.

What if it does not work out?
